(N) They fell in love during Matt's campaign. During that time the stakes were high no one could know about their affair. If their relationship was found out it could ruin Matt's reputation just as things were starting to go so well for him. Now Matt's the President of the United States of America. Once it was announced that Matt won the presidency the two decided that this secret affair could no longer exist so Matt stayed in the US getting ready to become the next president and Charlotte went off to spend a couple months in Europe.
But now Charlotte's back and just in time for Matt's inauguration. Those months away not seeing or speaking to each other did nothing to stop the feelings these two have for one another. And now that Charlotte's back Matt isn't letting her go so easily. Matt wants Charlotte by his side, not just in private but in public as well. He wants Charlotte with him in the White House.
Charlotte knows that if she goes with Matt to the White House it means her life will never be normal again and any type of privacy will be forgotten. But Charlotte has already lost her heart to Matt once and isn't sure she could just walk away from him again.
Commander in Chief is the second book in the White House series and this book was a hit for Katy Evans. I found myself unable to put it down and couldn't wait to find out what happened next. When I read the first book in this series, Mr. President, I wasn't that into it but I still wanted to read the next book. Because I wasn't sure how exactly I was going to feel about this one I had some doubts before I started reading. And I'm happy to say that I was completely wrong about those feelings I found Commander in Chief to be so much better than Mr. President. If you're like me and didn't like the first book that much but are still thinking about reading Commander in Chief then I highly recommend reading it, you will not regret it. I went from not being really sure if I liked this series to falling in love with it and that's all because of how this one played out.
