(N) Jax was the golden boy. America's quarterback. He was everything to everyone. Always available. Solid. Jax's can remember how something felt wrong that day. And he hasn't been able to get that feeling to go away. Not when he buried his child. Not when his fiance looked at him like he'd been the reason for it all. Not when Jax looks in the mirror and screams at the top of his lungs.
Football was what kept Jax sane. But he lost everything. And then he got a phone call. Harley was in an accident. She remembered nothing. A gentleman wouldn't fight for her, wouldn't remind her of the pain. So he let her go. Jax let Harley live her happily every after and took all the darkness, all the pain, all the anger.
Only the universe had a sick sense of humor. Harley bumped into him. She pursued him. The beautiful woman Jax used to call his. She said she wanted to make him smile. She didn't know she's the reason he stopped.
I wasn't sure what to expect going into MVP. I had just recently read a book with a similar concept, a couple who lost everything when one of them loses their memory of the couple's time together and thought it wasn't anything to write home about. I mean while I did read the whole book it wasn't something that I would want to read again.
