(N) Eleven years to the day after eloping in Vegas with Abby, Special Agent Travis Maddox delivers his own vengeance and justice to mob boss Benny Carlisi. The Carlisis are Vegas' oldest and most violent crime family and murder of their boss the family is preparing to take vengeance not just against Travis or his Thomas (his older brother also working for the FBI) but the entire Maddox family.
The secret that Thomas and Travis have been keeping from their family for the past decade is about to be revealed which will lead to the Maddoxes being at odd with each others for the first time. While the Maddoxes are no strangers to dealing with loss this time there's more at risk for their families than ever before. As the lies begin to surface brothers turn on brothers, wives are taking sides, and each family member will have to choose - let the fear tears them all apart or let it make them stronger.
Beautiful Funeral is that last book in the Maddox Brothers series, and I was more than a little disappointed with how this book ended up playing out. The character's reaction is finding out the truth about Thomas and Travis' jobs just seemed like way too much. Then don't get me started on the ending, I knew going into this book with the word funeral in the title that it would only make sense for one of the characters to die but really that ending. It was all just a little too much for me and something that I really couldn't enjoy reading. Also as an added bonus each chapter was told from a different character's point of view, which made things a little hard to follow cause I didn't always remember who was telling the story when it changed every chapter. This just made things seem a little all over the place with so many people telling the story.
I was not a fan of this book or the series. I'm still not sure why I ended up reading this book or the whole series when it seemed as though with each book in the series they just got worse and worse for me. Don't get me wrong this series started out well enough and I liked the first two books in the series (Beautiful Oblivion and Beautiful Redemption). But after those two books it seemed as though this series lost its spark and I could no longer care about what was going on with this series. Therefore, I have to say that this series really isn't worth reading.
