Grey By: E.L. James
(N) This is the fourth book in the Fifty Shades of Grey series, this book is told from Christian's point of view. Grey is mostly Christian's point of view of the first book in the series with a little bit of the second book thrown in at the end. If you are thinking about reading this book then it means that you have already read the first three books in the series so there's no need for me to go on and tell you what this book is about so instead I'll just say what I liked about reading Grey.
One of the many things I enjoyed about this book was being able to get into the mind of Christian Grey. In the previous books in the series all we knew about Christian was what he shared with Ana and what his family members shared with her. But in this book we were actually able to really inside the mind of Christian Grey. Through flashbacks and this new point of view we got to see more of the dynamic relationship between Christian and Mia. We got more insight on just how much Mia's arrival with the Greys and their relationship now has affected Christian and how much he treasures that relationship. Another enjoyable factor was seeing more of Christian and Elena's friendship and through a few flashbacks how their relationship was when Christian was Elena's submissive.
What I thought was an interesting tidbit was getting to read the bits here and there about how Leila was when she was Christian's submissive and how in the beginning Christian was comparing Ana to her. But the thing that really caught my attention was the little bits here and there after Leila incident at Christian's apartment while he was away. During that time that Leila was missing there were a few clues that maybe Leila was in Christian's apartment a lot more than when we were told in the books beforehand. There were few things here and there that made you wonder was that Christian's mind playing tricks on him or was that Leila lurking in the background?
What was probably the most interesting aspect of the book in catching the reader's attention actually came towards the end of the book when Ana left Christian. We know from Fifty Shades Darker that Christian was affected by Ana leaving him but now we got to see what that time away from each other was like for Christian. It was heartbreaking reading the breakup in his point of view, reading his feeling about the whole time makes his feelings for Ana all the more real. You get to see Christian come to the realization that he cannot live without Ana and just how much being with Ana has changed him.
I know that there are people out there who are commenting about how they didn't like this book and that's okay it just wasn't for them. I have been wanting to read Fifty Shades from Christian's point of view since we got a little preview at the end of Fifty Shades Freed. As for me personally I was more than happy with how this book turned out. I really hope that James continues with re-writing Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed from Christian's point of view because now that I read this one I really want to read the next ones from his point of view.
